It’s fair to say that if you wanted to get in shape, lose the fat, and undergo a bit of body sculpting in time for the holiday season, the window for traditional cosmetic surgery may well have closed. Recovery times for most procedures can often be measured in months rather than weeks, and nobody wants to be recovering from a tummy tuck while staring at a Thanksgiving turkey.
However, even if it may be too late for some procedures, there are other minimally and non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures which have very little down-time (days, even hours) and recovery times to match. These are usually based around something called injectables, which many readers will be familiar with.
For example, a lot of anti-aging treatments use fillers, such as Juvederm, or other products such as Botox to help patients appear more relaxed and alleviate the impact of a few of the more obvious wrinkles and fine lines. But that’s not all. Ever-inventive, surgeons are finding new uses for these products, and some of them are particularly relevant at this point in the vacation calendar.
For example, did you know that Botox can be used to treat underarm sweat?
Hyperhidrosis Treatments
Many people find that they sweat more during summer than at other times. But for those with hyperhidrosis, it can really be anytime. Luckily, help is at hand, as Botulinum Toxin Type A (otherwise known simply as Botox) can be used as an effective treatment for hyperhidrosis, the condition that is more commonly called excessive sweating. A series of tiny injections are performed in the affected area, and a small amount of Botox injected, which prevents the nerves from instructing the sweat glands to produce sweat, and the sweating is greatly reduced.
That’s the good news, and it gets better — the effect can last for up to a year and only requires a few injections performed at Dr. Vitenas’ own office. Once the unpleasant sweating has been taken care of, you’ll want to show off your body, and this is where some other injectable products come into play.
Minimally Invasive Body Sculpting
Almost everyone has heard of Body Sculpting, and usually associate it with a collection of procedures, mostly quite invasive. One example is liposuction, where fat is removed by using a vacuuming process, through small incisions in the skin, or full-on body lifts, where excess skin is also removed.
Wouldn’t it be good if we could achieve some of these effects, maybe on a smaller scale, but without surgery? One of the latest products to take the market by storm is Lipodissolve.
This is an injectable solution which has been extensively researched by Dr. Adam Rotunda at UCLA, and was brought to the market almost 10 years ago in South America. Its primary goal is to treat small pockets of particularly stubborn fat that simply cannot be reduced by exercise and dieting on their own.
It is fast-acting, too, with real results being noticeable after two weeks, improving overtime for around six months. The effect lasts, and each session is completed within 30 minutes, making it a great no-downtime procedure. Plus, no incisions mean that there’s no scarring.
New patients will want to take a look at the lipodissolve photo gallery, on the website, where they can see before and after photographs of real Lipodissolve patients. Bear in mind, too, that although lipodissolve is a good treatment for pockets of fat around the face, body, arms, and legs, removing large amounts of excess fat will probably require traditional liposuction.
