Cellulite is that unpleasant orange-peel flesh that can appear anywhere on your body but mostly appears on hips, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. Women are not exclusive to cellulite as men can acquire it too. Age is not a predisposing factor either, since teenagers, as well as people in their 50s, have cellulite. QWO Cellulite Treatment is the most clinically advanced treatment for this problem, and Mirror Mirror Beauty Boutique in Houston, TX has it. See what we can do about your cellulite issue.
What Is QWO?
Up until now, not a lot could be done to get rid of cellulite. A lot of massage of affected areas, a lot of water consumption, and even topical creams have been used to make these dimpled fat areas look better. However, because even athletes can have cellulite, one has to ask what can be done to fully eradicate these weird fat deposits.
QWO is the name of an injectable, non-invasive medication. It is not a fat melter or a fat remover. Instead, it helps relax the fibrous bands of tissue that pull your skin down and in, which are responsible for the divots or dimples in your skin. The fat pockets in cellulite push upward creating the “hills” around the dimpled areas. Hence, the medication causes the fibrous bands of tissue to release and make the dimples disappear.
What QWO Does to Cellulite
The composition of QWO is collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes. Collagenase is a chemical that breaks the peptide bonds in collagen. Collagen is what gives skin its bounce-back stretchy appearance. Unfortunately for people with cellulite, too much fat is deposited around the collagen bands in the skin resulting in a dimpled look. The collagenase breaks down the fibers of collagen in the skin and releases it to eradicate the dimpling of cellulite.
Clostridium is a bacteria similar to botox. It acts as a sort of paralytic in restraining underlying tissue from resisting the breakdown of the collagen when used in conjunction with the collagenase. It also helps thin out thick areas of skin, like your buttocks and thighs. Originally this medication was used to treat Dupuytren’s contracture of the hands and other medical conditions where there was a thickening of the flesh.
The histolyticum is the secondary part of the clostridium variant used. Without the collagenase, you have clostridium histolyticum, the full name of the bacteria in use in this medication. The final designation of the medication, aaes, assigns it the types of medications used and allowed for cosmetic procedures. It means that this medication is perfectly safe for use in the treatment of certain medical conditions and the reduction of the appearance of cellulite by attacking and breaking down collagen fibers. You won’t feel much more than a little bruising for a few days, and that’s it.
The QWO Cellulite Treatment
Your Houston, TX cosmetic surgeon will mark the areas of dimpling in your buttocks by outlining them with a body marker. These are the areas that will be treated. The medication is carefully measured out in the proper dosage into syringes with fine needles. Most patients barely feel the needles as they are inserted into the dimpled areas because the needles are so fine.
Each “dimple” receives a single injection but requires three injections over the course of three separate treatments to produce the desired results. It does cause a little bruising, but you shouldn’t feel too much pain because of the size of needles used and the freezing of the skin just before injection. Ice packs are generally used to freeze the area instead of injecting local anesthesia to avoid possible drug interactions with the QWO.
Every three weeks is the typical treatment period, lasting up to three months. You will return for the next treatment and schedule the next two treatments in advance after you receive the first treatment. Before and after pictures are usually taken each time so you can see the progress and efficacy of the treatments. Even patients with severe dimpling have seen some dramatic results after the three recommended treatment rounds, although people with mild to moderate cellulite are most likely to see the best results overall.
If you want to try QWO, you may need to get a personal assessment first. There should be no scarring or hardened tissue in the areas of treatment. You should also have no rashes or infections in the treatment areas that could complicate the effects of the medication or have skin conditions that could be complicated by the medication. It’s also important to note that people who have shown an allergic reaction to collagenase or clostridium bacteria injections of other sorts should not use QWO.
Good candidates for QWO are healthy individuals between 18 and 60 and who have tried everything else to treat their cellulite without much success. After you have tried the creams, the cryolipolysis (fat freezing), and the rollers and suction approaches, and before you decide to go with more invasive procedures like liposuction, give QWO a try. There are numerous success stories and happy patients (including some celebrities!) who have tried QWO and loved the results. If you haven’t tried anything else for your cellulite and want to go straight to the QWO, be sure to discuss the side effects with your cosmetic surgeon.
As with any injectable cosmetic procedure, there are always possible side effects. Some of the side effects of QWO include:
- Bruising at the injection sites
- Minor bleeding at the injection sites
- Burning and/or redness in the treatment areas
Most of these common side effects should dissipate within a few days. If any side effect listed above persists, contact your surgeon to see what you should do. You may also use cold packs to help alleviate discomfort as needed, but most people typically find that the sensations go away after a few hours.
There are some more serious side effects, but they are quite rare. If you are concerned about these rare side effects, or if you have a bleeding disorder or heart problem, talk to your surgeon before moving ahead with the procedure.
Can I go back to work after my QWO session?
For most people, you can get a treatment completed within an hour and still go back to work. As long as you have a job that doesn’t require you to move around a lot or exercise your buttocks strenuously, you can go back to work. Some patients book a treatment on their lunch hour and go back to work the same day. Only you will be able to tell if you feel comfortable enough going back to work on the same day you schedule a treatment
Generally, most cosmetic surgeons refrain from giving injectable cosmetic treatments to pregnant and nursing women. It’s not something you want circulating your system or the baby’s. However, if you have finished nursing and are not pregnant, you can begin treatments right away.
Men are just as self-conscious as women, and we understand that. We don’t often get male patients asking for QWO, but that doesn’t mean we won’t provide it for male cellulite treatment. QUO will work on male cellulite areas the same as it does on female cellulite areas because it works on the collagen fibers and not the fat deposits.
Things come up. Life gets in the way. We get that. If you miss a treatment, you may need to start over, or you may just pick up where you left off. It depends on how much time passes before you can receive the next treatment. Ultimately, your desired results may not be as expected if you skip treatments entirely or go too long before receiving treatment in the series. Talk to your surgeon about scheduling conflicts ahead of time to determine the best time to book your QWO appointments and get your best-looking results and buttocks.
